Years ago Aegon the Conqueror told his two sons and heirs a prophecy, the very one that had led him to conquer the Seven Kingdoms.
A Song of Ice and Fire, a dream of a prince that was promised. One that would come bearing the Conqueror's name and beat back the Long Night.
However, a very important part was left unknown.
Seven Targaryen bastards were born from the Mad King's seed during his reign, once madness and cruelty had claimed him for the last time. Fearful of losing the last of Valyrian blood in Westeros and its Royalty, the Targaryen allies called for the babes to be spared.
For what harm can bastards do against a true born's claim to the throne?
Robert Baratheon agreed. The war was over, and an unsteady peace reigned once more. Seven children of silver-blond hair, violet eyes, and pale skin haunted the Red Keep, named after their ancestors, and taught by the royal tutors at the behest of the Hand; raised as possible heirs of the realm, should the unthinkable happen.
But when the Hand passes away, they find that the Red Keep is quick to shift its loyalties, and even quicker to call for blood as a dark shadow looms from within, and blood stains the aged stones red once more.
Betrayal and lies wait for them in the shadows. A dragon's roar echoes across the Narrow Sea. A court split between three factions as war waits beyond the horizon. Alliances will break and be made anew as they try to reclaim a throne lost to madness and death.
They would take what was theirs.

(This and an AU of what I think would happen if the famous Targaryens were brought back during the war. All pictures used are not mine, nor owned by me. Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon belongs to George R.R Martin, as do the characters unless stated otherwise. Lots of book dialogue is used as I am using those for reference and guidance.)
