For Armin Arlert's entire rich life, he'd known that the walls of his government were as fair as could be. The government had created a world where the rich lived together, and the poor lived together, so in a way, they were equal. Mouthing someone of a different class than you, rich or poor, could lead to major consequences. There really was no need for such consequences as hardly anyone ever used such words. Everything seemed to be working on both sides. However, during the month of May, the leader named Erwin Smith showcased what used to appear in other countries before the flood that covered the world outside the walls. Starvation, depression, drought, despair, plague. All words to emphasize how much better the walls were better off with. And so things continued. So imagine innocent Armin's surprise when a dirty, blonde girl named Annie in her section shows up and pleads for help, in the rich section of wall Sina.

Wall Sina is the only wall left. Annie's Crystal has broken, but it's pointless. She won't speak. Hange and Levi can't make her transform, either. She doesn't want to, so she won't. Their last resort is to get all of the 104th training corps together, and try to persuade her.
