What if the night LAN Zhan had first asked Wei Ying to come to Gusu with him he had actually not allowed the misunderstanding to happen? This is my idea of what could have happened. (Fixed the timeline issues to be a bit more realistic though not sure if I am still a bit off.)

Zhan is married to yibo by his family in order to pay the debt they had but didn't know they were vampires and now zhan had become blood bank to them permanently. Wang yibo, never trusts humans after they killed his baby sister when they kidnapped her for experimenting her. His hatred for them grew over time and when he ascended the throne, he passed the law of humans becoming their blood banks. He hated every single one of them and made sure to torture them with their worst fears.
