Rachel torna negli Outer Banks dopo essere stata per più di tre anni a Los Angeles con il padre per lavoro, prima di partire viveva con i Pogues e faceva parte del gruppo di amici composto da John B, Kiara, Pope e JJ. Al suo ritorno però le cose sono cambiate ad iniziare dalla situzione economica familiare: il padre diventato ricco faceva adesso parte dei Kooks e così anche lei, contro la sua volontà; e difficili situazioni personali metteranno in difficoltà la stabilità emotiva della ragazza che, però, grazie all'amore riuscirà a risolvere i suoi problemi e tornerà a godersi la vita come un tempo.
