Shota didn't have the best relationship with his parents. And by that he means they didn't have one at all.
If he had to choose one way to describe it, he'd say their family dynamic was like an unspoken contract between business partners. They lived their separate lives and only contacted each other when it came to technical matters. It was simple, it was logical, and he was fine with it. And when he moved out at 18 with nothing but three words as a final goodbye, he was still fine with it.
It's only after thirteen years had passed, when his parents show up at UA's gates claiming to have no motives other than finally getting to know their only child, does he realize he was not, in fact, fine with it.
(cross posted on ao3, alternate title is 'trying and failing to write aizawa centric angst'. I don't own Bnha, nor do I own the artwork on the cover, both belong to Horikoshi. This is just a fanfic dedicated to it.)
