Two millennia have passed after a catastrophic event that killed most of the population on earth. The survivors are rebuilding a society where, perhaps unsurprisingly, human relations feature the same prejudices and conflicts that are familiar to us. Fortunately, not everyone is of the same old mold. Betula and Liriodendron are nonconformists of the best kind, just like the many we are familiar with today. Let's hope their adventures will be entertaining enough for readers to suffer Contrails' dark episodes. Hey! Dystopia is seldom entertaining.

"Forever, I had stayed silent, closed off, cut by the doldrums of family politics and societal pressures. Buried under biased judgements, I dwarfed to insignificant heights. But, inside the blaze fought to seize power-an inferno. Raging flames fuelled to perfection-burning hot with wrath, scorched by hindered expectations and smothered under unrealized dreams. Beauty and the beast reside together, working in unison. When one sleeps another awakes. Every beauty has a beast, brought alive by a trigger. I was a beauty, but then shit happened. Still, I smile. I laugh. I cook. I sew. I make love. I'm a good girl. But, good girls aren't necessarily good, it's just that they aren't bad in the traditional way. ---------------------------------------------------------- "You will get used to it...just a matter of time", her mother stated. "Every girl goes through this phase." It's easier said than done. For Sreya, the statement failed to shed a warm light, never had. And growing up in Swarupnagar, a suburb in one of the most dead corners of Kolkata didn't contribute much to the situation either. Dreams aren't bound, neither by words nor by limitations. Sreya dreamt for just one thing-get out of the system and create a life of her own. But, not every dream can be fulfilled; even worse, what if they come at a cost? What happens when your past that you skilfully camouflage haunts as your worst nightmare and the institution of marriage that people hold as sacred is rigged at the very core! Set against a backdrop of Metropolitan Kolkata, this tale of lust, ambition, addiction and revenge creates a wild concoction that is sure to leave readers' minds content, fulfilled and craving for more. ---------------------------------------------------------- Disclaimer: MATURE CONTENT Start date: 13/08/2021 End date: 30/9/2021

***REWRITE IS IN PROGRESS*** Writing songs in his bedroom, 24 year-old Tai Vuong wonders if there's a day he can share his music without pretending to be someone he's not. His power to manipulate people's opinions doesn't help-it's a reminder that he would never meet the expectations of others. But as Tai meets more people and ordinary things add up to extraordinary circumstances, he realizes he doesn't want to change who he is. He needs to change how he sees himself. Set in the heart of Toronto, Backstage follows an autistic musician's journey to discovering what it means to be yourself. Global warming, global cooling, what if all the predictions are right? Or worse, what if all the predictions are wrong? Can humans truly hope to understand the complexities attendant on such changes, never mind explain their relationships and predict their effects? The people at WBI - Walden Biodiversity Institute - think they can. At the very least, they intend to prepare as well as possible for the changes to come, whatever they may be. This is not a story of tragedy and despair. This is a story of possibilities and hope, of dreams and perseverance. If you want to know what the future could bring, should bring, start here. " ...this future sounds amazing. Not for the first time, I wish the world was more like your stories..." Utopian dreams and technological innovations. Not merely airy wishful dreams of what it would be like to be there, but realistically hopeful dreams of how to get there. This story could be a revelation of what our next twenty years will bring.
