The reader is a pure ghost. The Vex, like all vexes, is half Ghost and half demon. Like all allays, the allay is half Ghost and half angel. Contrary to popular belief about ghosts and spirits, all three of the main characters can choose whether they want to be seen and felt or not. The reader, a.k.a. the protagonist, learned how to use his/her/their powers through cartoons like Danny Phantom, as well as visual novels like my elemental girlfriend. Rex, a.k.a. the Vex, is experienced with his powers because he was in Minecraft for longer. Ellie, a.k.a. the Allay, has enough experience with her powers from the mob vote trailers.
