When the spirit of a comatose man shows up in front of her, Alexis Howard is determined to help him find his identity. Little does she know, she's about to get sucked into a world of secrets, lies, and murder. *** Alexis Howard can see the dead. A gift that has done her more harm than good. Having been forced to move into a strange small town because of it, Alexis vows to cut all contact with the world of the dead. It's easy at first, especially since there don't seem to be any ghosts in Casa Nova. That is until a comatose patient of hers shows up as one. No, he's not dead. He's just semi-dead. And he has no idea who he is. Oh, and the police think he's a cold-blooded criminal who's involved in the disappearance of a 17-year-old girl. Believing otherwise, Alexis decides to help the spirit find his identity and becomes embroiled in the search for the missing girl. Her investigation also leads to a meeting with a peculiar cat, who seems to be much older than she looks. Just what exactly is the connection between the three? What kind of a cat gets shot and shows up without so much as a scratch a few days later? More importantly, who is John Doe?

"And in that moment, I realized something else. The man standing before me wasn't just the trained fighter, aura user, witty mercenary, or man with a mysterious past he kept buried. He was someone who had survived far more than he let on-someone who, despite everything, still chose to stand by me. I think I finally understand the words Gareth had said to me, which felt like ages ago now, "He is someone you should keep by your side at all times." ____ Tamera Park spent her entire childhood helping her best friend Julia write a fantasy world filled with heroes, dragons, epic adventures, and romance. Ashley Martin has been through more grief than a person experiences in their entire life and carries baggage that no kid should ever entail. It's a fight-or-flight situation, a reincarnation of her past, a chance for him to right the wrongs he did by her. A second chance is like giving someone an extra bullet for their gun after they missed you the first time round. So here's Tyler's gun. Here's Ashley's heart. The world had gone to hell long ago, taken over by the vampire race. In order to keep some sort of peace in our land, the Vampire Lords made a consecutive agreement. The rich and powerful humans could survive just as they had been, untouched by the vampires save for the occasional blood collections, or so they thought In reality, we were all under their control. Castles spread out throughout our land, one landing in each city. Each castle varied in the number of vampires residing there, but all of them carried a Lord. The Lords were the ones in charge in every city, whether we liked it or not. The vampires often roam through the city, making sure that everyone was in order and no one stepped out of line. If you stepped out of line, you died, end of story. Even if the rich were still under their control, their lives were still better than the poor. The poorest lives held a much worse fate. The men were to be put to work as slaves, whether that meant serving a specific vampire, or just building their castles, they were slaves. The women were to be pets. Pets were the lowest rank you could have. They were forced into cages that were too small to stand in with collars around their necks. They spent their lives in pet shops, just waiting for the dreadful day that they'll be bought. They were treated like animals, trained into what their master wanted, and punished if they misbehaved. Those who were lucky enough to live through that, we're to be slaughtered for their blood at age twenty-five in an act to make sure that our population would stay steady. I was born into this world. Born into this world full of blood-sucking monsters. Except, I was one of the lucky ones. Was. It all ended for me when I was 12, when I was taken away from the last bit of hope and family that I had left. Ever since then, I've lived in a cage, just rotting away, waiting, dreading for the day that some monster would make me his. This is my life. I am a pet. ~~~ Cover by: @mshacake

A haunting has never been so complicated or fun. Vel Shamrock has never been normal and is definitely NOT lucky. She's the unforgiving, snarky ginger girl the whole school hates and whose own sister expects to go crazy-just like their mom. Vel is, in fact, going a little crazy-she must be because only crazy people wake up every night at the same time paralyzed as they watch themselves leave their body, unable to remember anything, right? Wrong, Vel isn't lucky enough to be going crazy. Instead, she's just unlucky enough to be haunting the new guy at school-the one she's falling for. *2nd place in the 2020 Skyfall Awards for Teen Fiction barbaramay91 / Barbara May © 2020.
