After DIO's defeat, Jotaro felt guilty over his friend's deaths, especially Noriaki Kakyoin's. Jotaro became very depressed, and stopped socializing all together. He stopped talking to his mother and ignored his Grandparent's phone calls. He also started beating up/killing stand users in Japan with Star Platinum's "The World". (Due to his time stop lasting 5 seconds in this AU.) He normally didn't get much sleep at night and would smoke at least once every 2 days. A five years later, he earned a PhD in marine biology, as he tried to get over the fact that Kakyoin, who he was never able to confess to was gone forever. It was hard, but at least he started talking to his family members again. He remained single in hopes that someday, maybe Kakyoin would come back somehow. Meanwhile in one of The Speedwagon Foundation's many hospitals, laid a unconscious Kakyoin, still looking 17 years old even though 5 years had passed since DIO's defeat. The doctors weren't sure if the young man would wake up due to his very fragile state so, Mr. Joestar didn't tell Jotaro since he was trying to get over Kakyoin's death and didn't know if this would make it worse, also, he didn't know if Kakyoin would even survive. But one day, everything Changed...
