Winner of Wattpad India Awards 2020 (Judge's Choice) in the New Adult category. ~*~ "The lights are cheeky, you can't live without them, and yet if you get too close, they'll blind you. Darkness? Well it doesn't cheat. It's cool and soothing. It's reliable." ~*~ Madhulika Thakur thought it would be a good break from work when she agreed to visit the countryside. After all, someone needed to sort out the property her family owned there, and real estate was her forte. What she didn't expect was to be engulfed by a landslide of issues just waiting to be addressed. She must navigate her way through the mess of a fragile social fabric, complex caste equations and the sheer helplessness of the people she never knew worked for her; all the while trying to regain the trust of a long-abandoned old friend. For the first time in her life, she must choose between what she wants and what is right. ~.~ Cover by @chaashnee

It may feel good to be pretty, but the problem with being beautiful is that there are thousands of people who look like you. Ugliness, however, is unique. ------------------- One girl, a walking-talking example of contradictions -- ambitious but naive, kind but blunt, social but awkward -- is living in perhaps the most competitive society in this world. She has a dream, a fairly conventional and acceptable dream, one which every parent would approve of. Unfortunately, millions of others share this dream, and in order to fulfill hers, she has to eliminate her competition, literally. Throw in a fair share of drama. Friends and family, crushes and exes, decisions and choices, and the life story of an Indian teenager would be complete. ---------------------- The last few years of school are the most memorable; grades, stress and career mixed with friends, fun and dreams. But most of the time when we are planning our awesome candid picture-perfect life, we end up crossing the 'i's and dotting the 't's. ------------------------------------ COMPLETED ON JULY 14, 2018 Featured in the teen fiction reading list of Wattpad India! He was seated at the head of the table, his laptop open in front of him, no doubt already prepared to ask us a bunch of invasive questions. But he wasn't looking at the screen. He was looking at me. Stopping in my tracks, I looked back, wondering if I had spilt something on my clothes. A quick look down showed that nothing was out of the ordinary. So I looked up again to find his meditative gaze fixed on me, sizing me up. Now my gaze narrowed. "What?" I asked, trying to bring politeness into my accusatory tone. He seemed to notice that my effort had failed because he raised an eyebrow, his head tilting to the side as he appraised me. "You're the head of marketing for FMCG?" he finally asked, his rich voice giving me a picture of a high bank balance. Some people just have the voice that feels like a fat cheque. He has that voice in a low, deep register. "Yes," I replied, trying to not get distracted by his intimidating presence. "What are you; 12?" he asked, in a quietly scoffing tone. What the- My eyes narrowed further. "No." Fresh off her devastating breakup, young and talented Dhriti Kumar heads back to India after her overdramatic mother's recent meltdown about her single status. In order to retain normalcy, productivity and distraction from the garbage fire that was her life, she takes up a high level job at Kleitos, an MNC that's playing the big leagues. Known as one of the brightest minds in marketing, the last person she wants as the CMO and her ultimate boss is Dhruv Razdan, the infamous Marketing whiz who has decided to take running his father's business seriously and head back to India at the same time. Dhriti and Dhruv have similar interests, talent and passion for marketing. They also are at loggerheads with each other because, well, the room can only deal with one genius who has done everything by 30. Would something brew between the two? Or would the ego battle continue with gusto? Only one way to find out.
