Certains pensent que l'amitié fille/garçon n'existe pas. Qu'elle représente un idéal inatteignable. Que les sentiments qui s'y rattachent ne sont jamais purement platoniques. Pourtant, lorsque Sasha et Bradley se rencontrent pour la première fois à l'école primaire, aucune suspicion de ce genre ne trouble l'affection qu'ils se portent l'un envers l'autre. Si l'amour peut parfois entraîner le doute, la crainte, ou encore la souffrance, la relation entre Sasha et Brad n'a jamais été que rire, stabilité et confiance. Cependant, alors qu'ils viennent à présent d'entamer leur dernière année au lycée de Birmingham, ils ne se doutent pas que celle-ci risque de marquer un tournant dans leur précieuse relation. Tandis que Sasha se concentre sur son ambition d'étudier à l'étranger et que Brad voit peu à peu fleurir la carrière musicale dont il a toujours rêvé, leur amitié va être mise à rude épreuve. Une épreuve qui risque de tout chambouler entre Sasha et Bradley. Ainsi, peut-être que le doute, la crainte, et même la souffrance teinteront eux-aussi cette relation pourtant idéale...
