This is the story of Hanamichi Sakuragi, a guy who dreamed to become the best high school basketball player in Japan. His story took place during his early days in high school.

The story took place about a year after Akagi, Mitsui and Kogure retired, Shohoku Basketball Team is set to prepared themselves for making back into the Inter High again with the arrival of three new freshmen.
