"Damn. Hasn't even been that long and you got a whole rock on your finger now, huh?" "...What are you doing here?" She unthinkingly rubbed her swollen belly, the tight knots forming in her stomach at the same time. "What you mean? I came for the art." His tone was sarcastic as he gestured at the paintings on the walls. She watched his eyes drift down her body, before he tightly clenched his jaw. "But I see I have more than one thing to congratulate you on." He said, bitterly. β€’ β€’ β€’ β€’ β€’ β€’ πš†πš‘πšŠπš'𝚜 𝚊 πš•πš’πšπšπš•πšŽ πšπš’πš–πšŽ πšŠπš™πšŠπš›πš πš πš‘πšŽπš— 𝚠𝚎 πš‘πšŠπšŸπšŽ πšπš˜πš›πšŽπšŸπšŽπš›? β€οΈβ€πŸ©ΉπŸ‘» π™±πš˜πš˜πš” 𝟸 𝚘𝚏 πšπš‘πšŽ πš…πšŠπš•πšŽπš—πšπš’πš—πšŽ πšœπšŽπš›πš’πšŽπšœ (πšœπšŽπššπšžπšŽπš•)

"And it doesn't matter how much time passed or how much time will pass-it's him. It always has been him and it always will be him...I just don't know how to tell him," When it's more than a like, and they're more than a friend. When they know you better than you know yourself and just the thought of them is all you need to put a smile on your face-telling your best friend you're in love with them should be simple. Right?

"Could I talk to you for a minute?" I went on to ask Stokeley as he sat alone in the basement with a blunt in hand. "No." "Here we go again.." I mumbled to myself, discreetly rolling my eyes. "We just talked about this last night and you apologized, now we're back to square one." "Don't care." He blew smoke from his nose. "Alright." I nodded slowly. "..and you know what, neither do I." I spoke up, tired of him and his shitty, weird attitudes. He was just a big ball of negative energy and I was sick of it. Mostly because all he was going to do was turn around and apologize then expect everyone to forgive him. "Who you talking to like that?" "You." I snapped, fed up as he looked up at me with his eyebrows raised. The room grew silent, making this more dramatic than intended. He then stood to his feet, looking down at me with a scowl plastered on his face. "You better watch yo' mother fucking mouth." Deciding I wanted no trouble with him, I grabbed my stuff to go. "Sierra, I'm leaving." I spoke once leaving out of the basement. "Why? What's wrong?" She asked as she sat on the couch with Johnny in the living room. "I'm tired of him and his shitty ass attitude." I spoke truthfully, pointing towards the basement door. I was done curving my tongue. "Just because you lost someone important to you doesn't mean you can treat everyone around you like shit. We've all lost people." Everyone looked at me with wide eyes as if they'd never expected me to be this way but it was just how I felt. I needed to let it out. Unlike some people I didn't hold things in. "I'm leaving. I'll see you back at home. See y'all." I spoke, excusing myself and walking out of the front door.

Formerly known as "Just A Kiss." If you want to familiarize yourself with this story before reading, please go take a look at "Shorts," a book with short stories based on and inspired by songs. "Loving him was easy. Learning to love herself was the real story." Let's follow Karmine, a young woman trying to make sense of who she's becoming while facing the realities of her upbringing. From schoolhouse drama and dealing with abandonment to the quiet battles she fights within herself, Karmine had to grow up quickly-learned to wear strength like armor. But then there's him-the one person who's always there, no matter how messy things get. Him, his presence, are reminders that she doesn't have to face everything alone. He loves her loudly even when the world is silent. Love isn't just about grand gestures, but about the quiet moments that remind you you're still worth living. Karmine begins to see that healing doesn't always mean being unbroken. As she learns to open up and find her place in the world, she discovers that growing up simply means learning to love yourself just as loudly as someone else loves you.
