Ivy has it tough. Growing up without a mum was hard enough, but having a dad, Kevin, only twenty years older than her came with its own problems too. He was stricter than other dads because he claimed to know what happened to pretty girls when they're left around boys-they end up pregnant and alone.
Ivy made it through school but works in a supermarket part-time, trying to be independent. In the small town of Hendrix, jobs are hard to come by, so she takes what she can. Until her dad's best friend, Griffin, has a favor to ask.
Can she look after his handful of a daughter, Melody, five days a week after school?
Melody is only five, but she's far from easy to look after. Her mother died suddenly, leaving her with her father, who has a full-time job. He doesn't trust anyone else with his daughter, so Ivy agrees.
The more time Griffin and Ivy spend together, the closer they become. Pretty soon Ivy is spending the night, bonding with Melody on a level that leaves her dad and Griffin in awe.
Ivy gets Melody like no one else, and she soon becomes attached to the little girl...and her father.
Soon things get tense, and Ivy is given a choice.
Move to a bigger city, chasing her dreams of getting out of the small town she grew up in, or admitting how she feels for someone off-limits?
