Now, as most of the grade turns their back on him in disgust, he finds that there's really only one person who seems to forgive him for his mistakes, accept him for his faults. It sucks that that person is Newt Lahey, but Thomas isn't really in a position to be too greedy anymore. It's an odd friendship, blooming from odd circumstances. But somehow, miraculously, it works.
