It was the summer of '62 when everything changed. And not for the worse, for the better. It all started when we moved into a valley neighborhood. It was two weeks before school let out, which didn't leave me and my little brother, Scotty any time to make friends. The stupid part was, our mother and stepdad made us go to school with only two weeks left. You could imagine how annoyed we were. But what we didn't know is that 8 very different boys would be the ones to save our summer and many after that. This is the story of how me, Emmy Smalls and my brother, Scotty would make 8 friends that would change our lives forever. The Sandlot.

Katie Ballard was never excited to move, never excited to make new friends, never excited to do anything with her aunt and uncle, and was never expecting what going to happen to her in the town of San Fernando Valley. Since it was Summer, it made Katie and her "brother" Scotty's life a bit easier. While Scotty tries to make friends, Katie stays home, hoping something will a happen. A best friend, a new friend, anything. When Katie finds out that Scotty made nine friends in less than a week, she can't help but laugh in disbelief. Scott proves that he does have friends, by bringing her to the Sandlot. That day, Katie not only saw proof, but actually became proof. As she not only made a few more friends than she thought, but she became awfully close to one "friend" in particular.

I fell, I fell so hard I couldn't breath because I loved him so much. The way he looked at me I would never be able to forget. Even if my pain included his happiness I could live with that. I do love him and that's what I would do. Sacrifice our love for his happiness. I just wanted him happy. His happiness was mine. It was a package deal. I was so in love that whatever he felt I felt. His pain was mine and so was his happiness. I plan on keeping it that way. I love him to much the let any of that go.

I got a call. The call sent my perfect world spinning out of control. I was gonna fix it though. I've already had the worst happen to me and it wasn't gonna happen again. I have the best friends, the best family, the best community. I wouldn't let them down now or ever. No matter what was happening I would drop it and go and help them out. Just like now.

I lived on the streets my whole life. I wasn't very smart and had never attended a school once in my life. Well maybe I did once but I was to young to remember. I was about as stone cold as I felt. I had no emotion towards anything. I just slept in alleyways and painted things late at night. I hated my name so I went by something I came up with. I feel it suited me better. Until I met him. Gosh dang that jerk changed me. Maybe it was for the better.
