Every time I shut my eyes, all I could see was the flash of his metal arm pinning me to the wall by my neck any time I would mouth off, my feet dangling inches off the floor. I'd remember the pain, the knives, the hunger, all of it. None of it haunted me more than the cold look in his blue eyes as he shattered my arm for taking his knife. I don't think I would have been able to kill him, that would have been nearly impossible for my skill set at the time. I had stolen it to protect myself from the next round of torture, to fend him off, and it had cost me. ~ Evangeline, the accidental Avenger who only wanted her brother's approval.
