Fake info had been given, while the family travelled, but her parents were still killed even with the element of surprise and a level of protection was there. She was taken in by another relative who also had a small child in her care to hide the failed attempt. Her mother secretly implanting her husband's eyes into her daughter to protect her and give her a better chance at life.
