Ever wonder what happens to those stories you start but never finish? ... Thank you for clicking on my book! Although it's listed as "completed" I have plans to go back through the entire story to do more with the concept. I have no idea when I'll find the time to do this, so for now, any feedback: comments, suggestions, or your unfulfilled expectations --are all welcome! -Amy ... Highest rating: #93 in Adventure

I swallow hard and open the door, mindful of the sores on my hand. It's just Cole. He smiles grimly at me. "Hey." The attempted smile vanishes after that. He stares at my hands. "What happened to you?" "Rain," I say, keeping it short. He nods once and stands straighter so his fourteen-foot wingspan can collapse more comfortably on his back. "There's a new guy in town," he says and I stiffen. "Can you believe it? Actually someone new for a change." "In town....like in the Market?" I ask to clarify. He nods and my heart sinks into my gut. Rilind is an idiot if he thinks he can walk freely in our dark streets. But that isn't what sickens me. It's knowing that my brother is with him. Right now. If Rilind is discovered, my brother is as good as wingless. <><><> Black. So much black. Our wings. Our clothes. Our sky. Darkness is all we've ever known. Any mention of Light is forbidden, punishable by life in prison--or worse. All that changes when a strange man comes to the city. Not only does he wear a coat of a rare color, but his wings are white. And if white wings and color are more than just a myth, could the same be said about Light? But the man did not come to our city by chance. There was a spoken prophecy from long ago that someone would soon rise up and defeat the Darkness once and for all. The Darkness already knows what role each of us must play. Will Light shine in the city? Or will Darkness win...again?

In a dystopian world, the people have been split into two known societies, the City, home to many of the nobles and Ministry, and the Deserters, the rebels that had lost the Great Burning War years before. These Deserters went into hiding the moment failure and loss was imminent. Since then, the Ministry has been trying to get into the Deserters ranks and destroy them from the inside. 'Ember', our story's heroine, is a member of the Deserters, but has no memory of her life before joining these rebels. Soon a tragedy presents itself and only a small group of the rebels survive. Ember and her accomplices has to venture out into the unknown for the first time in centuries. A second Burning War is brewing and there seems to be no stopping it. But the questions still present in Ember's mind are taking control: Who was I before? Why can't I remember? And in all honesty, Do I want to know? Book one of the Forgetful Natures trilogy.

"Be at peace with your decisions. Any act performed in the Drop Zone, will be hereafter forgotten. Run for your life; trust no one; and look only after yourself. You will be safe past the Finish Line, but the miles of battle field between here and there are brutal. You are on your own. Your teams do not look after you. YOU look after you. Don't fail yourself. See you at the Finish Line." It was a nice speech, but unfortunately we all knew it was true. We either live long enough to die or long enough to see ourselves turn into murderers. We were running for our lives, but we weren't running together. If you can't trust the people you are meant to take care of, who can you trust?
