But as she can't suppress her true self, she finds a way to sneak out to Welton Academy where she gets introduced to the Dead Poets Society, a group of boys, including her cousin, that want to make more of their lifes than just doctors and attorneys. Especially this one adventurous boy catches her attention and a dangerous romance begins to flourish. As they all try to follow their dreams, they risk not only their place at the school but also the chances of their future and the one of their supportive teacher Mr. Keating. And with risk there also comes loss. As a tragedy unfolds she has to decide whether she can keep her faith or will fall under the strict plans of her uncle.
