Some girl out there in the world must have a dream about being the bad boy's next door neighbor. Some girl out there has a dream about getting into trouble by the bad boy. Or having to be saved by the bad boy. Not this one particular girl. This one particular girl isn't your classic good-two shoes nerd who sits in the cafeteria by herself. Reading soppy fanfics or hiding from the outside and being a hermit. Valentina Cruz is just a girl who manages to get excelling grades, gets to be captain of the lacrosse team, gets to run track, plays instruments, and gets to be the next door neighbor of the school's new bad boy, Duke Taylor. Valentina may seem happy but she's actually hiding a dark past. Her parents get killed on her tenth birthday. She loses her sister. She now has to live with her grandparents and work at their bakery. As long as Val has her anime loving best friend, Nicky, everything is good for Val. As she was trying to get her life straighten out, Duke comes in a turns it upside down for her again. Duke Taylor isn't your typical bad boy who ditches class and all of that other bad boy material stuff. He manages to keep a good grade in school and happens to be in the same scholar's class as Valentina and his friends. Duke's captain of the football team. He has every girl swooning over him. And he lives next door to Val. Making the decision to live with his grandparents and baby sister must've been the best decision for him because he grows a bond with Val. The two of them uncover each other darks secrets and help each other out with problems. Val swears to fall in love with him. Even after he stole her diary. But, will she keep that promise for long?
