This is my take on the idea of a Varian spin-off series of Tangled: The Series/Rapunzel's Tangled Adventure. The AU was presented to Disney by storyboarders Kay Ritter and Anna Lencioni who took a liking to Varian's character and decided to create a story for him in his later years; detailing the adventures he might go on and the friends he makes along the way. I'll likely take a lot of inspiration from other fans too and I think that's what's great about vat7k, we all inspire each other with our ideas! :) This is probably gonna be a long one, hope you enjoy!! When Hector goes to Old Corona to visit Quirin, what he finds is not at all what he expects. Now he and a very injured Varian are on the run from the royal guards. Varian, a fourteen year old boy who is already one of Corona's top criminals. He now spends his days alone in prison with no one but his raccoon, Ruddiger, the queen, who tries none stop to reach out to him, and an unwanted demon named Albtraum. He awaits the day princess Rapunzel returns and he can get his revenge on her.

This takes place in the beginning of season three, when raps gets back. Varian has been trying to heal, forgive himself and deal with the town hating him. He tries so hard to help, to be a better person but people only see the monster that tired to hurt their Princess. Raps gives him the job of deciphering the Demanatis scroll. What happens to Varian when he learns more about the moonstone, and who it truly belongs to. Will the people fear him more, will he forgive himself for what he has done, and most importantly, what dose Catalina think of him. Modern Tangled AU. I'm not an orphan, nor do I really know one, so I apologize if some of the facts are unrealistic, but the story isn't in our world anyways. Most children hated the thought of an orphanage, due to how many times the people running the place were mean in most TV shows. Ironically, they were actually Varian's safe haven. Foster parents never worked out. If they didn't end up just sending him back, he wasn't treated right. He even had to hop from different orphanages due to this and never stayed in one place longer than six months. He never had a stable home, life, friends, or even a family at all. When Varian lands in Corona Rd. Home for Kids, a little light begins to shine. However, he only begins to see just how messed up he is more and more. The kids at the orphan home meet up at an old cafe by the home to hang out. Disclaimer: I do not own Tangled or the videos. (Let me know if I should add warnings or put it in mature content because there is some really dark themes in here, but there's no smut and I don't actually write the cuss word, but the character does say them. Not because of his intelligence or his obsession with science but because of the unusual blue streak in his hair that had been their for as long as he could remember. Little did he know, that tiny streak held great power and would soon lead him on an adventure greater than he could ever imagine. After Cassandra's heart-wrenching betrayal, Rapunzel and her friends find themselves returning to Corona, but are surprised to find their beloved kingdom covered in shadows. An ancient evil is awakening. It started with the moonstone, but now Zhan Tiri has her eyes set on a more valuable prize. There is a young alchemist in the dungeons; he is broken, and his drained mind is weak, which will make him the perfect target for the evil warlock's return. How can a single drop of sun stop the entire world from transforming into darkness?
