His father, the late king Simba left him the lands but because of his untimely death there are many secrets that are left untold. To make things worse, the Pride Lands are in the middle of one of the worst droughts and the animals are deserting the lands. This alerts many lions and even causes some new faces to come around demanding solutions...or fight for the lands. After Kopa is murdered, Kiara is no longer granted freedom to anything. In Simba's rage to defend his pride from Zira, he grows stone hearted and no longer grants Kiara the right to select a mate. Let alone look for one. Much time later Vitani is caught to be pregnant by Zira who wasted no time to banish her from the out lands, in her fear of defeat after losing a useful member of her pride she is more persistent on Kovu who soon gives into the manipulation and no longer cares for anything other spilling Simba's blood and hiding from Zira. When escaping Zira's grasp for the day, he is soon caught by the males of the pride after stealing kills, they operate to take his life until he is found by Kiara.
