The pristine landscape of Saas-valley had been the perfect settlement for many who'd stumbled upon the hidden gem. Over the years, more small villages scattered the lush alpine meadows giving rise to civilization. Then one stormy night an avalanche the size of which none had ever seen, nearly wiped out a whole village. Saas-Balen was left with few residents most of whom were children. To avoid the impending extinction, Saas-Fee and Saas-Balen went into an agreement. Saas-Fee will provide spouses to Saas-Balen residents and help them restore their village to its former glory. The system devised paired up families from each village to ensure that everyone got a spouse. Once the children of Saas-Fee were of age they are sent to Saas-Balen to be wed. The system worked flawlessly for years. Though along the way there had been some hiccups the village heads had managed to address them. Thus the tradition survived over many generations, ensuring a lasting partnership between the two villages. It was considered a grave offense for one to break the pairing law, punishable by a jail sentence. Disclaimer: This narration is purely fictional though the characters are not. Mew and Gulf stumble upon the tales written by fans. The AUs are drenched in thirst and sexual innuendo. Mew had always considered his relationship with Gulf to be that of Phi-Nong who respected each other. Then one day reading these fanfics his imaginations starts to run wild. And as Gulf also ventures into reading them, his P'Mew takes on a different role in his eyes. Not that of a brother he respects but rather a husband who's yet to claim him. And when Mew proposes they read the fics together, alone in his apartment Gulf knows his days are numbered. Disclaimer: This narration is purely fictional though the characters are not. I do not own any of the implied fanfics or fanart alluded to, images/media used in the story. Credit to the respectful owners.
