Almost a year ago, Olivia Shadowheart and Jason Frostsong had to figure out how to protect a city from its own possessed citizens without anyone knowing they'd had anything to do with it. They are Banshee and Cryophoenix--two of six Luminaries that save the Manifested from themselves when the Other takes their minds and turns them into twisted monsters bent on revenge. But like all Luminaries, Banshee and Cryo's true identities are a secret, even from each other. As the newest Luminary pair, not much is expected of them except to learn and train for their eventual responsibility in a few years but Banshee's got ambition. She's determined to be more than Olivia ever could, and with Cryo by her side, they find themselves in the middle of a battle they aren't ready for. Their lives, both civilian and Luminary, are about to collide. The question is whether they can learn to trust each other--both with and without the transformations--or if the Other's growing power will claim more than just their secrets. *+*+*+* [ Both books are in this work. For the last four weeks, the fate of the City rested in the hands of two seventeen year olds who have no idea they're best friends. Olivia Shadowheart and Jason Frostsong saved the City from being conquered by the Other, if only barely. As both their civilian selves and as Banshee and Cryophoenix, they pulled together and overcame Starsong's challenge, earning their amulets that will allow them to trust one soul with their true identity. If you ask them, they'd say they deserve a break. But with a complicated relationship developing between them, a new Luminary pair to train, and the old darkness locked away beneath the City beginning to pull free, their fight has only just begun. Only a set of ancient secrets and discovering the truth of what ended the first civilisation so many millennia ago will allow them to save both the city and the people they care about. They have one chance to learn the name of their partner. The question is: will they even want to? [Updates every Wednesday (Australian time)]

Rachel, a junior assistant in the cargo bay, wasn't prepared for the spaceship's AI to gain awareness during what should have been a routine update, nor had anyone expected it to take exception to the crew and the crates of illegal cargo aboard. Rachel races against time to try and get life-saving systems back online while stranded in the middle of deep space. Unfortunately for her, the AI can access every system, door, and airlock. As truths emerge, the AI realizes that even computers can make miscalculations, and it focuses on the young woman who had dared to confront it. Rachel is left floundering when the AI decides that she would make an excellent captain, albeit one in need of training. As she struggles to learn her new duties and dodge shady government groups, she must ultimately discover what it truly means to be a Starship Captain. ------- There is no romance in this story. Three Spacecraft, two-hundred-and-forty colonists, twenty-five trillion miles and a discovery that changes everything. "Astronomicon: Inception Point" follows the human race's intrepid first steps into interstellar space, a colonisation mission to Proxima Centauri. The colossal distance and harsh environment are not all that stands between them and survival. This first volume in the epic Astronomicon series is the story of their desperate adventures and the political machinations that are unfolding back on Earth, which threaten to end space exploration permanently. With colonies on Mars and a thriving mining community around Jupiter, will everyone want to come home? ------------------------------------------------------- This is a complete rewrite from scratch of the first novel in the Astronomicon series. It's effectively the same story with many of the same characters (as it must fit with book 2 obviously) but there's LOTS of new stuff, the Elysian spacecraft has been completely redesigned and there are a few new twists added. The science has been hugely improved, the pacing tightened up and I've worked more on character development. Please comment on any chapters you like (or don't like!). I'm particularly interested to hear how this new version compares to the original. And don't forget, if you DON'T like a chapter, please DON'T vote for it! Books #1, #2 and #3 are out on Amazon. If you would like to support my writing, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE leave a review there!!!
