'A scared little girl, that's you, Willow. That's all you've ever been and all you ever will be, do you understand?' He spits venomously, getting so close to me that all I can see and hear is him, all I can feel is him and I hate it. I try my hardest to swallow the lump in my throat and ignore the tears threatening to spill over as his hurtful words echo in my head. Shaking my head feebly, I try and take a step back but he clamps his hands tightly onto my shoulders, forcing me to meet his dark eyes. I can't even find it in me to feel embarrassed anymore when a traitorous tear escapes my eye, prompting a scoff from Eli. I just need to get away from him, even if it's just a few steps, I need to put some distance between us so I can escape his painful words. But despite my struggle, his grip on my shoulders only tighten and soon the corners of his lips are lifting in malice when he sees how desperate I become to get out of his hold. 'So stop trying to play the hero when you're such a coward yourself. Because that's all you are- just a weak, pathetic, littl-' And that's when I slap him. And I regret it instantly- because no-one, and I mean no-one, slaps Eli Walters and gets away with it. --- I was only thirteen when my best friend was taken from me. Up until that point, we had practically been inseparable. And then she was gone, and overnight I had to learn to adapt to a life without the light of Ciara Walters in it. Doing even the simplest of things suddenly became a hundred times harder and walking into school that following fall without her by my side felt like one of the worst things I had ever had to face. Especially since I knew who was waiting for me inside, because the day I lost my best friend was also the day I gained an enemy in the form of a boy called Eli Walters, Ciara's twin brother. • TW: mentions of death. | @oreoz4milk x.9.20

~~~ Ryder's face turned angry as he pushed me back up against a wall. His face hovered inches from mine. I could feel his hot breath on my lips that smelled like cinnamon. With his chest pressed up against mine, my heart was beating rapidly while he smirked and leaned closer, if that was even possible. "Don't mess with me Ruby. You won't like the consequences." "And what would those be?" I asked breathlessly. His lips brushed against my ear and I drew in a breath. I could feel him smiling. "You'll see." ~~~ Ryder Daniels is arrogant, cocky, and your typical bad boy. He fights, rides a motorcycle, and attracts as many girls as a local Starbucks would. With his Greek God body, every girl falls for him, but he only breaks their hearts by playing them. Ruby Buchanan is the new girl, but not the nerdy one that would get picked on, but a fighter. After her parent's divorce, she had to move from sunny California to cold Pennsylvania. The only way she can get the stress and frustration out from her is to fight. With an unexpected run in with the school's hot 'bad boy', she needs to stay away from this annoying prick with his perfect looks and smirk. She also unfortunately finds out that he's her neighbor. But after spending time with Ryder, will she be able to keep her feelings at bay? Or will she realize that there are deeper feelings toward Ryder than she thought? And when Ryder finds out the twisted past about Ruby, will he run to the hills, or fight for her? He hissed as the alcohol touched his bleeding wound and he grabbed my hand. His touch ignited a flame and I knew that later I might have to treat myself for burns. "I'm sorry, did that hurt?" I asked, softly. I tried to calm my breathing as I did so, he was so close. The years that I spent staying away from his kind weren't paying off. "No," He retorted sarcastically, still holding onto my hand. "I hissed because I'm a snake. Of course that hurt, pumpkin." His comment awakened several buried memories, but I ignored them and continued to work on his wound. "Could you please let go of my hand now?" I muttered. He smirked and shook his head. "Do I scare you?" he asked, completely ignoring my question. Even though he did scare me, he scared me completely biscuit-less, I rose my head up and shook my light brown waves. "Absolutely, not." ************************ Gemma Reynolds is an an overworked nurse and probably one of the most innocent and pure people you will ever meet. I smiled at him but tears were starting to blur my vision together. "I hate you." His smile faltered and he looked taken back, "Not like that, Drake. I hate you because you make me cry. You're supposed to beat up the guys who make me cry, not be one of them." "But they are happy tears, right?" he clarified. I smiled and nodded my head, before gripping his shirt, pulling his body against mine. "I'll never make you cry because you're sad, understood? I'm never leaving you." I didn't respond this time, I just sat in his lap, holding his torso and he played with my hair. "I don't know if I can let you in yet Drake," I told him truthfully, the one thing I had been dreading telling him. "I know. But I'll never hurt you like the others have. I-"he cut himself off and took a deep breath. "Riley?" he moved me away from his shirt. I looked at him in the eyes and say an emotion. One I hadn't seen in a long time and one I haven't seen in his eyes before. "Can I kiss you?" __________________ Drake was the player of the school. Everyone knew his name. Riley was the nerd of the school. No one knew her name. Complete opposites but for some reason, opposites seemed to attract. Riley knew that Drake had a new girl every week, but she felt like she could change him. And maybe she could. Maybe she'd be different. *Based on a true story*
