Eighteen year old debutante, Marigold Fairfax, has two major problems. One: she is hopelessly and unrequitedly in love with her charming neighbor, Theodore Farrington, who calls her Goldie. Two: she has a terrible secret. By day, she may be a socially awkward debutante without prospects, but by night she is London's most notorious dancer; christened "The Lady of the Night." Her anonymous performances border on treasonous in a time when the English monarchy aims to repress social unrest following 1816's widespread famine, putting both her and those she loves in mortal danger. In a time where women have little place in the world, only those irrational and reckless enough try to burn a path for themselves. So while Marigold plays with fire, she tries desperately not to get burned.

Published in 1862 by Lady Apollonia Nott, Courting Customs Most Sacred is the comprehensive text for any pureblood family seeking to arrange suitable matches for their children. It's also patently ridiculous and not at all appropriate for the modern era of dating. It is certainly not how one should woo Hermione Granger, at any rate.
