A girl made of magic. A prince raised to destroy it. A destiny neither of them wants.
Merlyn was only six when her uncontrollable magic condemned her mother and burned her village to the ground. Taken in by the druids and raised beneath the protection of the fiercely devoted-and endlessly infuriating-Aras, she spends years trying to bury both her power and the guilt that came with it.
Then Camelot finds them.
Prince Arthur's first command turns Merlyn's second home into a battlefield, leaving her with yet another reason to hate the Pendragon name. But destiny has never cared what Merlyn wants. Years later, it leads her directly into the heart of Camelot, where magic is punishable by death and King Uther's hatred reaches into every corner of the castle.
To survive, Merlyn must conceal what she is while protecting the one person she should despise most: Arthur.
He is arrogant, infuriating, and determined to make her life miserable. She is reckless, sharp-tongued, and hiding enough power to bring his kingdom to its knees. They were raised to stand on opposite sides of a war neither of them began, but hatred becomes understanding, arguments become something dangerously close to affection, and Merlyn begins to see the man beneath the prince's armor.
Falling for Arthur could cost Merlyn her freedom, her purpose, and eventually her life. Because no matter how tenderly he looks at her, he is still the son of the king who killed her mother-and the prince who helped destroy her home.
Arthur has been taught that magic can only corrupt.
Merlyn may die proving to him that it can also love.

This story is a reimagining of Arthurian legend and is heavily inspired by the BBC series Merlin. However, it does not follow the show's canon, so you do not need to have watched the series to understand or enjoy it.
Merlin is reimagined as a woman in this retelling. If that bothers you, consider this your official warning.
I hope you enjoy!
