Several gates stood in a tight some-what circle. Each gate would go to a different platform, with a train that would take them to a different school. Elcadora's gate had a golden-white metal, with intricate designs of flowers, wings, swords and other weapons, and crowns. The other five gates were equally crowded and noisy. Each had a diverse group of skin tones and powers. One of the girls standing at Verunika's gate set her hair on fire and a boy (hopefully her brother) shot water out of his nostrils to put the fire out. Her hair was untouched. The group outside Aadaritri gate varied less in looks- most of them came from the north-east and had dark skin and white hair- and more in abilities. Velda watched two young boys grab onto the air and hoist themselves up. They sat on the ledge until an older girl came and grew her arms, wrapped them around the boy's waists and hauled them giggling to the ground. All the gates stood closed until the clock that stood in the centre of all this, struck twelve. All the gates opened with a soft pop and Velda was pushed forward. The train was in perfect condition. Like the gate, it was a golden-white colour and had a thin layer of the same designs. Velda's father handed her her trunk. He then pressed a necklace into her hand. With a final nod and encouraging smile, he, and all the other parents, were swept back into the waiting bay by the unseen forces of magic. She tried to find her fathers face among the others, but could not as there were too many faces and not enough time. Heaving her trunk behind her, Velda tried to find a semi-empty compartment. Most of them were already full or the people in them were too old to degrade themselves into accepting her warmly. Near the middle of the train there was a fuss about someone's wings. Velda avoided that compartment. She walked down the corridor, glaring at anyone who looked weirdly at her shoes.
