When the love of Tony's life dies while deployed overseas, Steve - his spouse's best friend - is there to help him pick up the pieces. And while Tony lets himself take comfort in Steve's friendship and shared grief, he refuses to entertain the thought of opening his heart to anyone else - until the day he wakes up and realizes he's quite possibly falling in love with his dead husband's best friend. Meanwhile Steve, though devastated by Bucky's loss, is determined to take care of Tony for Bucky's sake - it was practically his dying wish, after all. But as time passes and hearts begin to heal, Steve soon finds his feelings for Tony are less-than-platonic - and that Tony might even feel the same way. But can he really start a relationship with his dead best friend's husband? Working through guilt and grief and the ghost that is Bucky's memory, Steve and Tony cautiously decide to cultivate this thing between them. And just as everything starts falling into place and they build a life for themselves, Tony gets a call that once again sends it crashing down around them.

What if Bucky wasn't the one who fell off of the train? What if Captain America became the Winter Soldier?

Sam laughed softly, the sound was still as beautiful as the first time Bucky had heard it. "We aren't very good at hating each other," Bucky mumbled, mostly to himself. "No," Sam kept his eyes down but smiled. "No, we aren't."

Tony and Steve hate each other. As in HATE! Everyday they try new things to get each other annoyed, some being successful and some ending horribly. Until things take a harsh twist and Steve leaves. He ends up in jail for hurting some thugs and is accused of murder. Or was it a set up? Someone hates Tony and they want to make him suffer.
