He's positive that someone has stolen her because flowers don't lie. The only problem is that they're unable to give him a good description of the supposed culprit, because, well, they're flowers. In the midst of their search as they nose around town, suppressed rumors of Guts, an animal serial killer who has been eviscerating pets and strays alike, surface. There hasn't been a 'case' in two years, but when a news article for an unfortunate stray dog shows up one morning while Misty is still missing, it sends Kyle spiraling into an even greater panic for the safety of his beloved cat. What began as an innocuous search for Misty slowly pulls them into the bigger and more sinister things at work in the underbelly of Brinevale.
