Since Mary Stuart was a child, she has been engaged to the eldest son of Florence's wealthiest and powerful family, the Medici's. She ends up marrying Lorenzo de Medici by proxy on her seventeenth birthday. By the time of her twentieth birthday, Mary is sent to Florence to meet her now husband, Lorenzo de Medici. Tensions arises between the two when Mary finds out that Lorenzo is not in love with her and that he is having an affair with his long time lover, Lucrezia Ardighelli. What will Mary do?
