Cora Jones (but never call her that) went from living rich in Brooklyn to life in the slums of Manhattan. A week after the moved there, her parents were killed in a house fire and she ended up moving into the Newsboys Lodging House with her best friends, the Manhattan Newsies under the name of Flip. In the next three years, Flip has moved up in ranks, becoming second-in-command to the one Jack Kelly. Speedy Del Toro is the leader of Manhattan's girlsies. Her past is a mystery to most and that's how she likes it. Enter Spot Conlon, the King of Brooklyn. He knows more about her than anyone else (except maybe Jack Kelly). Speedy likes Spot but won't admit it. Spot likes Speedy but won't admit it. The Manhattan Newsies are just ready for them to get together already. But Brooklyn's Newsies would rather Speedy not interact with their leader at all and with the strike happening around them tensions rise.
