Fifteen-year-old Kaylin Podmore has a pretty great life, basically everything a teenager living in Lexington, Kentucky could ever dream of. Her parents own one of the most successful Thoroughbred racehorse operations in the country and she has three of the best friends any girl could have, especially as her freshman year of high school starts to come to an end. She catches the eye of Lucas Mitchell, a sophomore starting quarterback for her school's varsity football team. As they learn about one another and grow closer, a potential serious relationship starts to grow between them, but her ex-boyfriend Jesse Landford, her older sister Kimberly and Lucas's ex-girlfriend, Nichole Young, are determined to try to keep them from getting together for different reasons. Kaylin knows Nichole is a stuck up spoiled rich girl, and she doesn't believe a word that Nichole says about her and Lucas, but her sister's another story. As they start to get back into the swing of things with school back in session, Kaylin, her family and her friends soon realize how fast things can change. Kaylin tries her best to keep her friendship with Grace together, but after numerous fights which all end in hurt feelings on both ends, it makes things difficult for Kaylin because her best friend isn't acting like who Kaylin thought she was. Kaylin's life has been thrown into the ringer, and she doesn't know what she wants to do, knowing what it could cost her. Now, it's the last month of the school year and the summer meets for Thoroughbred horse racing are kicking off, mainly focused on the elusive Triple Crown series which Faith's Magic, Kaylin's favorite filly, has been campaigning heavily for since the fall meets. Kaylin and Lucas are also going to be celebrating their one-year anniversary, which brings a whole new set of boundaries for the two of them to navigate with not only each other, but even their friends. The two of them spend their summer with their friends and family mostly up north in New York for horse races and celebrating multiple birthdays. They also spend time strengthening their relationship in more ways than one and having uncomfortable, but necessary conversations with friends and family about the changes in their relationship. As the summer break comes to an end, the drama from last year comes back around, the group prepares to see what the next school year will bring, as it's their time to buckle down to start figuring out what they want now that they're officially high school juniors and seniors.
