Severus regresa un día a casa y descubre algo de su pasado, a los 16 años, en el ministerio, alguien lo caso con Sirius Black. Decidido a pedir el divorcio y no tener ninguna relación con su mayor acosador, este le pide a cambio su firma que visite a Harry y pueda asegurarle que está bien. Severus Snape puede ser un cruel y despiadado profesor, pero tras visita a Harry durante las vacaciones descubriendo que no está bien, separase de Black es lo que menos le importa. Junto con Sirius Black ambos fraguan un plan para rescatar a Harry, Severus lo criara aprovechando que es el otro padrino del pequeño, engañando al ministerio y también a Hogwarts.
