Princess Sozin was born under an omen-fire in the clouds, water in the wind, and a name that would haunt her entire life. Named after the Fire Lord who began the Hundred Year War, she is a dual bender of fire and water, a miracle of power the Fire Nation boasts as its triumph. Adopted into the royal family, raised beside Azula and Zuko, and forged into Fire Lord Ozai's perfect weapon, Sozin carries a legacy she never asked for: the name of the man who set the world ablaze. Her destiny was carved before she understood the word- a political future, a forced marriage to Prince Zuko, and a lifetime sworn to a throne that sees her not as a daughter, but as a tool. But everything changes the day Zuko is banished, sent to hunt the long-lost Avatar. Just when Sozin begins to imagine a life beyond Ozai's reach, her father commands her to follow Zuko into exile- as his shadow, his shield, and his reminder of who she belongs to. Thrown into a world far from the palace walls, Sozin begins to unravel the truths she was never meant to discover-about the war, about herself, and about the fragile line between loyalty and freedom. And in the chaos of rebellion, destiny, and fire, her heart betrays her duty. Because while she was meant to stand beside Zuko... Her heart pulls her toward Sokka, the fierce, stubborn, impossibly hopeful boy from the Water Tribe who sees past her title, her bending, her name-and into the person she is fighting to become. As the shadow of a black sun rises over a world at war, Sozin must choose: Will she be Ozai's perfect creation... or the spark that burns his empire to the ground? In the shadow of a black sun, love becomes rebellion, and rebellion becomes legend.
