Ulisses is adapting to his new prosthetic leg. More than phantom limb syndrome, what haunts the former Brazilian figure skating promise is the fear of never skating again. To add insult to injury, his parents are getting a divorce and he is facing yet another change, a move to another state, before New Year's Eve. The invite to be the titular character in Antares skating school rendition of "The Nutcracker", for the summer recital, could be a chance to fight his demons and overcome his fear. Estrela is adapting to her new extended family. Ever since the scandal that took away her privacy for good, when she was only thirteen, the girl has been living with her formerly estranged grandmother. Se can't set foot inside a school without having panic attacks, she has learned to dress in dark colors and to avoid the glances and notoriety her mom's lack of judgement has earned her. The role of Clara in the recital is her chance at regaining her freedom, and getting some attention for the right reasons. Now, all Estrela will have to do is figure out how to handle rehearsals for "The Nutcracker" with preparations for her dreaded 15th birthday party. What the two skating partners had never dreamed of, was to rekindle old ties, amidst Christmas lights, tapioca sandwiches and rehearsals for the recital. And that the extra something they could find under the Christmas tree tree was the courage to take a leap of faith and land, head over heels, in one another's arms. Ashley Thomas was the perfect representation of the ideal antagonistic 'it' girl in romance novels whose sole purpose was to make the perky, main character look good. The cheerleader could easily describe herself in three words - blonde, bold, bitch - the three B's if you'd so call them. There was a downside of being the staple girl however and that was keeping up with the facade that she was, in fact, perfect. The truth being being that she was far from that. Somehow it took a kind hearted English boy to make her see that imperfections were quite okay. ~ A story in which the mean girl finally gets her happy ending.

Elijah Hastings was that brooding mystery that most persons adored but never thought to solve. He was loved and feared all at the same time. He seemed to have the perfect life but then again, no one truly knew him so I'd guess that was an assumption. And I'd guess the next big assumption was to think that he wasn't suicidal because it turns out he was. And my biggest assumption yet, you make ask? To think he was easy to befriend. ~~ Warning: This story deals with suicide, abuse, drug usage and rape. It contains some amount of indecent language as well.

Nighttime reminds us of.... the voices in our head when they get loud, the sadness in our hearts when no one listens, the peace we find only to crumble, the people we know, only that they never want us to achieve, the emptiness of our souls that darken our eyes

He was the boy that no one noticed. He was quiet, bland to the naked eye, a total wallflower who sat on the sidelines and lacked in eye contact with those around him though he had the type of eyes that made you feel like you could drown. He tried his best to blend into the background, but what he didn't know was that he was the only one that caught my eye. He was the most intriguing person I had ever laid eyes on even though he couldn't see me. He couldn't see anything.
