Grinning, Regulus remarked, "I bet you could've quoted some Shakespearian insult at Crouch if you'd wanted to." "Would thou wert clean enough to spit upon," Seri replied with a smile. Regulus's smile grew before something warmer took its place. Softly, he asked, "And goodbye?" Her voice a little more than a whisper, she replied, "Good night, sweet prince, And flights of angels sing thee to thy rest!" Her cheeks flushing, she averted her gaze before she added, "Or perhaps, 'Parting is such sweet sorrow, That I shall say good night till it be morrow' to suit your disdain for Romeo and Juliet." Regulus did not know what to say, but when their eyes met, he could not have spoken if he had wanted to. Something about her gaze held him there, completely captivated. Softly, he said, "I'll take the angels. Seems the better of the two." "Hamlet," she said, smiling. The moment hung between them, poignant and prolonged, as though neither quite wanted it to end. . Seraphina Iolanthe Potter was born a year after her older brother James Fleamont Potter. As such, it was not without fun and laughter that she grew up in the shadow of a war that would change her life forever. Seri enters her seventh year at Hogwarts, unsure what adventures await her as she begins her first and only year without her older brother and closest friends with her. It is only then when she finds herself in a train compartment with her now distant childhood friend, Regulus Black, now cold and cruel as his reputation. Read to follow Seri and Regulus's journey of growth, self-discovery, and, most importantly, love. Sequel coming soon :) Disclaimer: I do not own Harry Potter. All characters outside of Seraphina Potter and Marzarine McGonagall belong to J.K. Rowling. Cover art: @avendell on tumbler

Regulus Black was meant to die in that cave. He had accepted it-the cold, the curse, the betrayal that came with serving a monster. But fate had other plans. Pulled from the depths by a cursed siren with silver hair and storm-touched eyes, Regulus wakes in a secret sea cavern with nothing but his broken body and a girl who shouldn't exist. Clara is magic incarnate-ethereal, wordless, and full of questions no one has dared to ask. Together, they are hunted. Not just by Voldemort, who seeks the girl's blood and the boy's silence-but by the war Regulus once helped build. With nothing left to lose, he makes a vow: protect her, whatever it takes. But protection comes at a cost. And love... love was never supposed to be part of the plan. As Clara's voice returns and the truth of her curse unfolds, Regulus is forced to face the very darkness he once embraced. The past doesn't forget. The sea doesn't forgive. And neither does fate.

This is the story of Lyra Potter, Slytherin, daughter of a family that never quite saw her, best friend to two boys who adored her and knew better than to try to own her the girl who chose her own side and paid her own price for it. It is also, inevitably, the story of Regulus Black, and the five years it took two people who knew exactly what they were to each other to stop pretending they didn't. Enemies first. Then the thing underneath all of it, which had been there since a Charms class in third year when she dismantled Flitwick's entire argument and looked sideways to see if anyone had followed, and he had. He always had.

― "I love you more than life itself," ― Althea Potter had always been a light. Where James burned wild and reckless, she glowed warm and steady, drawing people in with her laughter, her kindness, and her stubborn belief that everyone carried a spark worth loving. She was the sister who brightened shadows, the girl who never let anyone feel unseen. Regulus Black, on the other hand, was born of shadows. Cold where she was warm, distant where she was tender, sharp where she was soft-he was a boy sculpted by duty, drowning beneath the weight of a name that demanded silence, obedience, sacrifice. They were opposites, orbiting each other in disdain. She saw him as cruel and unfeeling, and he saw her as naïve and foolish. Yet the world has a way of binding the unwilling, and war makes strange companions of enemies. Slowly, through whispered arguments and stolen glances, Althea discovered the boy beneath the mask, and Regulus found himself yearning for the light he had spent his life rejecting. But love in times of war is fragile. It does not always save. Sometimes it destroys, quietly, beautifully, tragically. And when the end came-as it always would-they both learned that hatred can turn to love, and love can burn into something fiercer still. Something unshakable. Something eternal. Something that could only be called devotion. ☽。⋆

But because once touched they beg to be touched again. ﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌﹌ Her whisper came broken, "You must think me pathetic." "I think you assume too much about what I think." "Then what do you think?" "That I've never once despised you as much as you despise yourself."
