Bentley yelled running in the kitchen from the foyer. "Is she, well lets go see" I say wiping my hands on my apron, walking to the front door. As I open the door I see a Marine standing there in his uniform with a few envelopes in his hand. "Are your Alana Kelsall?" he asks in a kind voice. Confused I reply "Yeah I am please, call me Anna." as Bentley peeks out from behind my legs. I have this really bad feeling in the pit of my stomach that I know what this is about. "I'm General R. Paul, on behalf of the United States Marine Corps, we are sorry to tell you that Captain Damon Norris was killed in the line of duty. These are for you." He says handing me the two envelopes. <3 Damon and Anna have been best friends since they were in diapers. Their families are close friends. When Damon was 18 he decided to join the forces, more specifically the Marines; following in his grandfather's footsteps. What she doesn't know is that he has loved her since he was only 13 but, was just too scared to tell her. He had only one week after basic training to see his family before being deployed to Iraq for 4 years. So they decided to spend his last week together and before his deployment; they wind up sleeping together. Resulting in her becoming pregnant. What would you do if you were told that your best friend, and the father to your children was dead? Rose Compton is an innocent eight year old girl, dying from cancer. After a year of numerous treatments and pleas to recovery they've declared her battle with cancer lost and she should expect for her time to pass to come soon. This is a short story I had to write for school. The assignment was to write between 500-1500 words on a scene of a child's death and to make it fairly light hearted and not gory. In which a girl can't go a day without an anxiety attack and a boy can't go a day without noticing

I woke up in a lab. I don't know anything about myself and I'm not sure that I want to. I don't even know my own name, or what I'm doing here. There are other children here, too, some younger than me and some that are older; but none of them are...normal. We are all different in some way. I'm the only one that can talk and I probably will be the oldest as well. They usually live for a week at the most. We're usually caged, and we only leave the dark room when they want to experiment on us. Or kill us. The evil people call me their Ultimate Specimen that could change the world... But I'm just a girl who doesn't have an inkling of anything before this torture. The men and women here call me dangerous, harmless, a secret, a solution. I don't know what any of it means, but they continue their work and experiments on me. Why am I so fascinating? Why am I here?
