Of couse blacks were feared and if anyone found out you were a black you would be taken to a camp where they resided. So she hid it. Until she found Damian. Damian was found out to be a purple. Those were feared almost as much as blacks. Except Talia liked Damian's power as a purple. She loved it in fact. But he hid it from others. His father or brothers do not know about him being a purple. He feared they would shun him or his father would leave him because they were scared of him. And then Damian and Marinette meet each other.

After an accident occurs in Paris and Marinette feels as if it's her fault, she calls her grandmother who immediately hands over the contact information of Alfred Pennyworth.
