At a very young age, Naruto discovers about his status as a Jinchūriki and befriends the Kyūbi no Kitsune, Kurama. Kurama offers to train Naruto and he agreed. As a Genin, Naruto develops a bond with Team 7, but the bond was at stake when Sasuke attempts to go to Orochimaru for power. Naruto and Sasuke had a battle at the Valley of the End with Naruto as the victor. As he arrived at the gates of Konohagakure with an unconscious Sasuke, Naruto was ambushed by ROOT Anbu, dropping Sasuke and being taken to Shimura Danzo. Because of the Akatsuki, Danzo insisted that Naruto should be confined in Konoha, putting him in prison. Naruto escapes and left the village in search of the other Jinchūriki. The Fourth Hokage's body was never found, but they never suspected that was because he hadn't died. Minato Namikaze wakes up six years after the devastating Kyuubi attack, alone in an overgrown clearing with not a scratch on him. Disoriented and confused, he does exactly what any father would do in this situation. He fights through the pain, gets up, and goes to find his son. He trudges through the pounding in his head and forces himself to move-- to go and find him, because that masked man was still out there, and Minato is willing to do anything to protect his little ball of sunshine. Needless to say, the blonde kage wasn't expecting so much time to have passed. Nor is he very impressed with the way the village has been treating his son all these years.

Naruto lost his parents the night of his birth due to the Kyubi escaping, but fortunately Jiraiya and Tsunade are willing to take care of him in their place.
