He fell into a crippling depression, losing his workplace, becoming an alcoholic and finding himself unable to afford a place to stay. His disappointed grandmother left him in the streets, and he was left homeless where he slept in alleyways, drunk. Until a new bartender named Jamie started working in at local bar Joe usually visited, and Joe was shocked when he asked, "How about you move-in with?"
