Everywhere was dark, midnight black. She stood up from the ground slowly and turned around to see if she could feel or touch anything.
She noticed a light that began to shine from a far. She raised her arms to block her eyes from the rays of the light. She walked slowly and forcefully towards the light, wondering why she was weak all of a sudden.
She got to the light and as she touched it, she felt like she was grabbed into another dimension or maybe she was indeed somewhere else other than the ordinary.
Where am i? Where is this place? These questions began to race her mind as she looked around to see herself in a place that looked like a room divided into three with clothing; Red, Black and White.
Cowries, statues of scary figures, wooden objects, calabashes of red, black and white layed around in the area. A burning fire was in the centre. Chains of red, black and white hanged from the ceiling she thought, until she looked up to see the sky.
The shock got a grip of her as she almost tripped into the fire but felt held by something but she couldn't see it. What was going on? She moved away from the fire and then it caught her attention.
It was a gold throne, covered in pieces of red, black and white clothing. It had a black eagle statue on the top of the throne. A gold staff was next to it. She felt drawn to it and as she approached, the desire to sit on it grew.
As she sat on it and held the staff, she started to hear wind blow around and suddenly birds began to appear. She was vultures, eagles and owls and then they all changed to grown women and a few young ladies and girls.
She was shocked by this and then they all bowed. They were bowing to her saying some words she couldn't quite understand. But she noticed one thing, it was Yoruba they were speaking.
An elderly woman rose and said " Iya wa, you are welcome. Adunni, ka bo". Why was she called iya? Who were these people and how did they know her name?
