Pada suatu malam yang normal, penduduk Indonesia terbangun dengan kejutan besar. Langit yang biasa mereka lihat berubah menjadi warna ungu tua dengan kilatan kilat emas. Dalam hitungan menit, seluruh negeri terasa bergetar hebat. Jalan-jalan dan bangunan-bangunan mulai bercahaya dengan intensitas yang meningkat, seolah-olah seluruh negara berada dalam mesin waktu raksasa. Saat gempa berhenti, semua penduduk merasakan perubahan besar.
