His father still trained him even if he was blind just because and I quote 'I am not going to have such a useless son that gets used as a hostage with out fighting back! No son of mine will be that useless!' He was trained with Shoto, Shinsou and Touya. Izuku was good at avoiding hits but couldn't bring himself to attach back.
