The young Prince felt the nausea from the previous night return as he was situated behind the executioner's stage, a pyre set with a stake in the centre. He tried his very best not to remember that Merlin would be mounted upon that very stake in moments, a fire ablaze beneath him...

Starting at the beginning of Season 4, Lancelot and Merlin manage to close the rift without a sacrifice. With Arthur curious about magic, Merlin finds himself revealing his talents to the most trusted of the knights and to the prince. Together they decide that they will bring magic back to Camelot when Arthur becomes king. Also, a funny Merlin meme in every chapter. For no reason, just cause I liked them. And I don't own Merlin, obviously. Just the story.

Merlin is a scrawny kid just trying to find his place. High school is a difficult time for everyone, but especially for Merlin as he tries to struggle through loss, love, friendships, grades, and finding out who he really is. Arthur is a jock and everyone wants to either be him or be with him. He's getting recruited for college for sports and his grades are good. To everyone on the outside, it seems as though he's living the dream. That is, until he finds himself falling for someone he'd never even noticed.

The king feels no guilt when he enters the couple's home, killing both Balinor and Hunith as they try desperately to protect their son. But, instead of having the child meet the same fate Uther decides to keep the young dragonlord as a form of token. A spoil of war. So, once he returns he locks the boy away somewhere deep in Camelot's dungeons. Merlin remains there for years, alone and afraid until one day a young prince finds him.

Merlin is the awkward high schooler that seems to be the obvious target for the bullies in every school he goes to. Arthur is the confident, ladies man that picks the targets he and his group of friends pick on. Little do his group of followers know, the golden boy has secrets of his own, dark secrets that would ruin his family if they got out. What happens when Merlin uncovers all of these hidden tales?
