Forged In Fire is the true story of a young girl's childhood in pre-WW II Tokyo; her schoolgirl dreams; the violence, starvation and desperation of wartime that drove her family out of the city; and the American Occupation that shaped Japan's future. It is the story of my mother, Rita (then named Tomoko), who was ten years old when World War II began and fourteen years old when it ended. Mom had often recounted her experiences to me and my siblings as we were growing up. At some point, Mom began urging us to write down her stories for her. I finally got around to honoring her request early last year (2014). Using audio recordings, notes, frequent phone calls and plenty of fact-checking, I eventually placed into chronological order the various fragments of her memories. On one hand, it is a young girl's story, told plainly. On the other hand, it is a remarkable glimpse into one of history's most tumultuous events - one not widely known. Mom was later diagnosed with cancer in July 2014 and eventually passed away at the age of 83 in August. Although severely weakened from her illness, she was happy and proud to hold a rough draft of the printed manuscript in her hands. It was her final wish that her story be published and so here it begins....

- A WATTPAD FEATURED STORY - The year is 1942. War has been raging across Europe for nearly two years now, and the Nazis, hell-bent on expanding their empire and anti-Semitic views, are winning. Only Britain, the United States, and the Soviet Union are left to fight them, now. For Evelyn McIntyre, the war is just beginning. She's about to be dropped into enemy occupied France with a rough-and-tumble Jewish man by the name of Gene Rosenberg to fight the Nazis. However, they don't fight in long, drawn-out battles in which the enemy they're fighting is clear. They fight a secret war, one that could prove to be just as deadly as the war the rest of the world sees. This is a sample! With flowers that grow in amongst her curly hair, Cage is dragged into the hunt for the prisoners and must travel across the cosmos with a band of unlikely heroes. A witch of the winds and another of the stars. A boy who has magic when he shouldn't and another with the sun in his blood. I got this from random plot generator. Chad suspected something was a little off when his Greasy Honey tried to punch him when he was just six years old. Nevertheless, he lived a relatively normal life among humans. It wasn't until he bumped into the devilishly tall gargoyle, Andy Humble, that his life began to make sense. However, Andy proved to be stingy and seemed to have an unhealthy obsession with jumping. Chad soon learnt that Andy had taken an oath to never kiss a human. When Chad's greasy honey is injured in a boating accident, Chad soon realizes his own life is at risk. Despite Andy's dazzling fangs and grumpy disposition, Chad finds himself falling for him. Only fate will decide whether he kills or protects him. One night a gremlin appears before Chad and warns him of a darkness within Andy. The gremlin gives Chad a ripped Rifle- the only weapon that can kill a tall gargoyle. Will Chad find it in himself to kill the only creature who has made him feel truly confused?

For all of her life, Cara Stryker had been sheltered in the comforts of her home, and lived in complete discipline under her mother's strict rules. But finally reaching the age of freedom, at eighteen years old, Cara deliberately goes off on a trip to London she knew her mother would never agree on. Things take a turn for the worst when she discovers the influx of crime, a dangerous gang leader, and getting lost in London. ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ "Cara?" he tested the name on his lips. "Do you know who I am?" I shook my head. The man in front of me had black hair, and dark eyes that held no mercy. They weren't hazel, nor tan. Not even brown. They were dark, too dark to predict a color. "You will," he said to me. "After the next hour and a half you will." ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ © Copyright at Muses_ . All rights reserved. A C T I O N - - - - #10
