A massive intertwined city filled with various races, cultures, and ethnicities have achieved the impossible. Society has gotten over the automated, and the richest class has gotten richer and richer while everyone else has fallen into squalor. To deal with the boredom and help entertain the ruling class, the poor citizens are offered as pets to the rich families. The term 'pet' is a synonym to the word 'servant' and each family is entitled to one pet for free. They may buy more if needed. Pets may not speak unless spoken to, must stay loyal to their assigned family, and must do whatever the family asks. Pets must sign a contract that transfers their physical rights over to the family before being able to live with them. Of course, being a 'pet' is an option and an option only some people are offered, but once you sign the contract your life now belongs to your family until death. Warning!
