Scarlett Avery has had a rough life between her abusive father to her abusive husband, she ends up running away to a small town outside of Georgia wanting to keep a low profile and continue her medical career with fear of him finding her and her needing to run like she always did. But in a small town there's no hiding who you are, where meeting Officer Rick Grimes in a bar and telling him her life story and becoming friends with him and his partner Shane Walsh along with his family, feeling safe there. Yet when Rick gets shot and she saves his life only for him to end up in a coma, the world falls apart and becomes a place for the dead rather then living, she's the only one around to make sure he stays alive. And when he wakes up, the two of them head off on a journey to find his family.
