Four years to the day that I left Iowa. Four years since I've seen most of my "friends". Four years since I've really been happy. But it's also four years since I've been beaten up. But I have a plan for that. Karah is moving back to Ames, Iowa after living four years in Missouri. She feels that she left part of her in Iowa. But maybe that's just Karah rembering "him". But there's a catch: she got beaten up and broken down when she was younger. She cant let that go and those scars have never faded.

Is there some point after all friends have gone, where all hope is lost, when there is absolutely no love in this world and you feel like giving up, but you don’t; not because there is something to live for, but simply because there once was? If there was such a point in time I think I would be there now. Maria lives a very average life. Sure she gets teased a lot for her odd style, but hey doesn’t everyone? Then one day it all goes wrong. Her friends stop talking to her, she starts having terrible nightmares about her grandmother who died when she was six, and odd things keep happening to her and her few friends. She has only one friend left that will still talk, or even hang around her; Sarah. Sarah, who can be as strange as the things happening to Maria, is actually very nice most of the time. But Sarah is hiding something; something that could break Maria forever.
